Michael Vergason Landscape Architects

The mission statement of the AVDLM is “We want to see the Capitol and we want the Capitol to see us.” A clear statement that reflects the dedication to country of those who elect to serve in the military and a demand that for those who are wounded or disabled in the line of duty deserve the best treatment and care the country can provide. I was invited by Michael Vergason to be a design consultant and artist during the early stages of the Memorial design. My focus was to help with the narrative of service, sacrifice and purpose within the glass walls and cast bronze sculptures. After seven years the Memorial was dedicated in the autumn of 2014.

Materials: granite, engraved glass, cast bronze, water and fire, landscape materials. Site: the memorial is on a two acre site.
